Green Michiana is a culmination of IUSB’s year-long series of events related to the campus theme: Sustainable Communities.  Green Michiana follows-up last year’s highly successful “Bag Fest”, which encouraged students and area citizens to bring in plastic bags and Styrofoam for recycling.  In addition to the recycling drive, Green Michiana: A Sustainability Fair for Home, Garden and Road will feature businesses, organizations and musicians to raise public awareness of sustainability in our community.

What you can do:

1) Mark your calendar to attend on April 12th.

2) Start using reusable canvas bags when shopping and gather up the plastic bags and Styrofoam you have in your house to bring to the Recycling Drive.

3) Pack up your old computer(s) and bring them to the Recycling Drive: a $15 donation is being requested to support Free Geek Michiana, which refurbishes computer systems to distribute to low-income families.

4) Forward this invitation to any business or organizations that sell or support “green” products, services or awareness and encourage them to participate. IUSB will provide space and indoor display tables and outdoor space for bicycles, electric cars, hybrids and other large items.  Contact Deb Marr at (574) 520-5564 or or Scott Sernau at (574) 520-4402 or by March 8th to reserve a space.

5) See you on the 12th!
